Traditional Chinese Medicine & Western Medicine

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a distinct healthcare system with its own diagnostic framework, terminology, and treatment principles. TCM diagnoses – including assessments of qi, yin and yang, organ systems, and constitutional patterns – reflect TCM principles and are fundamentally different from Western medical diagnoses.

A TCM assessment does not replace Western medical evaluation, diagnosis, or treatment. Acupuncture and TCM care are offered as a complement to, not a replacement for, your conventional medical care. Patients are strongly encouraged to maintain regular care with a licensed physician and to inform their physician that they are receiving acupuncture and TCM treatment.

The conditions and concerns listed on this website as areas where people seek acupuncture care are not intended to imply that acupuncture diagnoses or treats those conditions as defined by Western medicine. They reflect the range of concerns patients commonly bring to TCM practice.

Herbal Medicine & Nutritional Supplements

Information about Chinese herbal medicine, essential oils, and nutritional supplements on this website is provided for educational purposes only.

FDA statement

Statements about Chinese herbs, herbal formulas, essential oils, and nutritional supplements on this website have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. These products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

Before beginning any herbal or supplement regimen, consult your healthcare provider — particularly if you are pregnant, nursing, taking prescription medications, or managing an existing health condition. Some herbs and supplements may interact with pharmaceutical medications. Herbal recommendations made during a clinical consultation are based on your individual TCM assessment and are distinct from the general educational content on this website.

Research References & Evidence

Where this website references research, studies, or clinical evidence, such references are provided for educational context only. The research landscape for acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine is actively evolving. Individual studies may not represent scientific consensus, and results from research settings may not predict outcomes in individual cases.

Research citations on this website do not imply that acupuncture or TCM has been proven to treat, cure, or prevent any specific condition. Statements such as “research suggests” or “studies indicate” reflect the current state of published research and are not guarantees of outcomes.

No guarantee is made regarding treatment outcomes. Results vary significantly between individuals depending on the nature and duration of the condition, overall health, consistency of treatment, and many other factors.
